Adam McLane was in Haiti last week and shared some great thoughts via video about discipleship, spiritual growth and youth ministry. I love what he says because it’s exactly the same thing I’ve been wrestling with lately, especially after my last two trips to Haiti — he just articulates it so much better than I have.
Adam says it’s less about giving teenagers lots of information about God in a sterile church environment (not that there isn’t a place for that, because there is), but maybe it’s more about pushing them into situations that stretch their faith and make them seek God. That’s exactly how I got started in youth ministry, so I tend to agree with him. It’s also why I designated over half of my annual budget to taking multiple trips to Haiti each year.
Check out what he says over on his blog and contribute to the discussion in the comments below his post.
