This past Thursday at 12:02am my wife gave birth to our little boy, Ezekiel Ryan Schmoyer! Weighing 7 pounds, 9 ounces, he’s a perfect sized little guy. Both mom and little Zeke are healthy and doing great!
If you’ve been wondering why Life In Student Ministry has been quieter lately, the pregnancy is partially why. The other reasons I’ll no-doubt share at a later time when more details are in place.
Since I’m a guy and tend to be short on details about this kind of stuff, you ladies who want the details should check out my wife’s blog post about the baby delivery.
There’s also some pictures and video of Zeke on my personal blog.
I’ve been reading and re-reading the book of Ezekiel over and over again for my personal devotions. It’s such a fascinating book. One of the things that stands out to me the most is in chapters 3-5 when God asks Ezekiel to do some very uncomfortable and unusual things, all for the purpose of communicating His message with people who were drifting further and further away from God. Ezekiel is an example of someone who was willing to put his own comforts aside and obey God’s calling to be a voice to the culture around him even if it meant standing out as someone who is extremely weird for God.
That’s why Dana and I are naming our son after him. That’s what we want for our son. That’s what I want for myself!
