Our Weekly Freebie Friday: #276
Russ Cantu is the youth pastor at Prescott Evangelical Church in Modesto, CA, and sent me his very thorough Student Ministries Manual to share with you all. And thankfully, he’s giving all of you the Word and Pages documents so you can edit and tweak this to work for your own ministry. What a great guy that Russ is, eh? :)
This is a document you would use with new youth workers to help aclimate them to the standards you hold in your youth ministry as well as how to start the process of joining the team of adult leaders.
The table of contents includes:
- A Word from Student Ministries
- Vision and Values of Prescott Church
- Statement of Faith
- Qualifications for Leadership
- Volunteer Commitment
- Volunteer Application
- Volunteer Reference Form
- Ministry Path of Travel
- Ministry Path of Travel, Illustrated
- Ministry Path of Travel, The Look and Feel
- Small Group’s Leader Walk-Through
- Small Group Participant List
- Small Group Covenant
- Spiritual Assessment for Individual Students
- Worship Component
- Registration Component
- Games Component
- Ministry Resources Checklist
- Child Abuse Prevention
If you don’t have a youth ministry leader’s handbook in place already, consider checking this out and taking the parts that apply to your youth ministry and adapting them for your use. One word of caution, though: although it makes you look really good to have something like this available in your ministry, only do so if you’re actually adopting what it says as part of your ministry. Otherwise, there’s no need to introduce layers of complexity and then not follow them in practice, ya know?
