Our Weekly Freebie Friday: #261

If you’re looking for a new, fun way to create video announcements for youth group, Youth Specialties and CrowdControlGames teamed up to offer a free program that automatically places your face inside different movie scenes. Grab a fun picture of your face from somewhere on your computer, copy it into their “Faces” folder, crop your face using the tool, and click on one of the available movie scenes. The movie will start playing with you as the star!

I made a sample video of myself as Neo in the movie, The Matrix, so you can get an idea of what FacePlant does. Unfortunately, there’s no video export setting that I found, so I used a screen capture program to record the video as it played on my computer monitor and then edited my own ending onto it. One side-note: I watched their intro video on the Youth Specialties’ blog post, FacePlant still wasn’t exactly intuitive for me at first. It took a bit of experimentation to figure out how to use it, but once I did, I saw that I skipped the last two paragraphs on Youth Specialties’ blog post that gave the instructions on how to use it. If I had read that first, it would’ve save me some time. haha
