If you work at a church, you know the relationships you form are key to any ministry. Sometimes the relationships we forget to focus on are those with the other people we work with: our senior pastor, children’s director, worship coordinator, secretaries, etc. What should those relationships look like? Should they be buddy-buddy or more professional? Should your senior pastor be your best friend, or does that complicate issues when confrontation needs to take place? Does a friendship erode objectivity when evaluating ministry?
Here are some of the highlights from our discussion:
- What does a healthy staff relationship look like?
- What are appropriate relationship boundaries to have with other staff members?
- How do you build better relationships with those on staff when conflict is involved?
- Advice on how to start heading toward a more healthy relationship with staff members
Here’s the video that came up in the midst of our discussion called, The Power of Vulnerability.
